BRIDGE COURSE

To bring the children who discontinues their basic education before they complete 14 years of age because of poverty and non availability of educational infrastructure and proper guidance, efforts have been put to bring them to the main stream. All together 400 children benefited from this program and 60% of the enrolled children have joined back to the regular schooling system

SADHANA SCHOOL

Sadhana School for the working children provided food, cloth, shelter, educational requirements, medicine, sports materials, recreation, schooling facility, Love, Care and Concern for for more than 338 children during a period of 10 years. Physical growth of the children during their stay with us was excellent and their interest of learning compulsory subjects like Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Home Science, English, Kannada too was very good. Children were given ample opportunities to exhibit their talents like dancing, acting, painting, sports, singing etc. and their performance in extra curricular activities is marvelous.

TECHNICAL SCHOOL FOR SCHOOL DROPOUTS

Technical School in Mundargi and Allanki offered technical skills for the school dropouts youth in dress making, embroidery, DTP, Computer applications, Motor winding, Electrical wiring etc. More than 350 students have benefited from this program.

SELF EMPLOYMENT TRAINING

To encourage rural youth with technical skills self employment trainings were conducted in Allanki. Fabric painting, Electrical wiring, Dress making, Bag stitching, DTP, Computer application, Poultry, Rabbit rearing, Animal husbandry, Craft and clay models, Cooking and home science etc. Book Binding & File Making, Fabric Painting, Screen Printing, Horticulture, Vermiculture, Beautician, Banner writing, E.D.P. Management Trainings, Doll Making, Mushroom Cultivation, Candle Making, Brass Band, Bee – Keeping etc. were the inputs and skills provided by the center. 195 students benefited from the training.

‘MUKTHA SHAALE’

Children finding difficult to cope up with their regular studies were identified with the help of local school teachers and volunteers. Later, they have were motivated to enroll for alternative teaching classes in their respective study centers. 50 study centers had been formed and volunteers had been trained to meet the needs of 1000 children. Opportunities were also created to explore their talents, to provide recreation, sports, medical assistance. Children have been encouraged to form vegetable gardens in their respective houses.

TEENAGE OUTREACH PROGRAM

To provide health education for the teenage Girls teenage outreach program was conducted in Ron, Mundargi, Honavar & Soraba talukas and 800 villages girls benefited from this program.

CAREER GUIDANCE & YOUTH AWARENESS

To create awareness about the potentiality of Youth as well as to bring out their hidden talents, to fight for their rights and to compete in this modern world. Leadership and Youth awareness programmes were conducted in Honavar, Bhatkal, Siddapur and Bidar. 570 Youth benefited from this programme. Youth were trained in personality development, decision making, leadership, communication, problem solving techniques, about choosing their trade and carrier, guidance by the experts was given on problems related to health and hygiene. They were also explained about the hazardous of smoking, consuming alcohol, HIV/Aids etc.

MEDICAL SUPPORT & HEALTH EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN

Health checkup was conducted for the small children below 5 years in 25 villages of Honavar taluka with the help of Pediatrician. Healthy child competition too was conducted in each village and winners were prizes. Eye check up, ENT, General health checkup programs were conducted for the villagers of Honavar, Bhatkal, Mundargi and Siddapur Taluka. 1700 children benefited from this program. They were provided with free consultancy, medicine and other requirements. Doctors, Teachers to reach basic knowledge about health to the school children associated with our organization. 2500 children were thought about the importance of health and hygiene through simple lectures, charts, group discussions and street plays. Electronic Media also was used in few areas to the reach the information effectively.

MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR WOMEN

Rural health and sanitation was the prime objective of Muktha Trust during this year. Hence, medical camps and health awareness programmes were conducted in all the villages. 1200 women were supported with medicine, consultancy, lab facilities etc. Health awareness talks too were conducted and 2500 women attended the health sessions on different issues. Breast feeding, sanitation, epidemic diseases, malaria, gynecological problems, menopause, detection of cancer etc. are the topics covered during health sessions. Conception, growth and developmental stages of child in the womb of mother, care and guidance regarding infants, psychological problems of women, handling stress, about dealing with diabetic and hypertension problems, cancer, HIV/Aids, importance of drinking safe water and sanitation, immunization, nutrition etc. too was informed in the local language through various medias. Response received from the female population was excellent. Local hospital authorities and government department personnel too were kind enough to associate with us to expand this program to the target group. 130 medical camps were conducted and qualified medical practitioners diagnosed and treated the patients with personal guidance.

WORKSHOP FOR THE PARENTS OF CHILDREN HAVING HEARING IMPAIRMENT

With the collaboration women and child development department, Sarva Sikshana Abhiyana inputs were given to the parents by the subject experts about the causes of hearing problems to the children, care and responsibilities of the parents towards these children and need of training and sending such children for school etc. parents of 57 children participated the workshop.

DENTAL CAMP

While giving importance of general health condition of women and children, activities were designed to conduct dental camps with collaboration of KMC Manipal and SDM Dental College Dharwad. 450 patients benefited from the program with advanced clinical facilities. The medical experts guided the patients about the problems related to dental health.

FLOOD RELIEF

To support the villagers effected by flood food, cloth, medical assistance, vessels, school requirements and dress for children has been distributed and to raise their family income they have been supported with Giriraja eggs laying variety chicks of two months old.

EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN

Self help groups have been formed to promote the sense of small saving as well as to help each other in the villages. 30 SHG groups are active under the guidance of coordinator and with the help of volunteers as well as village leaders. 80 women took initiative to start micro poultry projects in their respective localities. 100 Women in Mundargi have been encouraged to buy Goats and 5 each motivated to buy cows and female buffalos to increase their income.

STREET PLAY WORKSHOP

Street play is the powerful media to reach information to the rural population. To form street play groups youth were motivated and trained by the experts. Street play trainers Mr. Vinay and Mr. Vishwanath, Mr. Murali conducted the workshop for 7 days and 38 youth participated with great interest and zeal. After the training, group has demonstrated the play on Child Labor Menace, HIV, Aids, Health & Sanitation issues in various villages.

POLIO VACCINATION

Staff and children of our School involved in polio vaccination program organized by the government. Community people were encouraged to take active part in polio eradication program.

TALENTS DAY

To bring out hidden talents of the children, Talents day was conducted every month. Children were encouraged to sing, dance, act and enjoy their God given natural gifts.

SUMMER CAMP FOR CHILDREN

To encourage children to use of summer holidays in a productive way, short term training was designed on various topics like H.R.D, science and technology craft, painting, personality development etc. Team members of Muktha and Sadhana committed themselves to help explore the knowledge & creative ideas of children. Summer camps were conducted in the villages of Honavar, Mundargi, Shirahatti etc. 2000 children participated in different villages and explored their talents with the help of resource persons and also enjoyed their holidays.


WORKSHOP ON HEALTH AND SANITATION PROGRAM

One-week workshop and training was held in Mundaragi taluka to discuss the issue related health and sanitation in the communities. 50 youth including females participated the workshop and the participants have initiated to form street playgroup to create awareness to the public. Group has exhibited the street play performance in 15 villages of Mundaragi taluka and 3000 villagers benefited.

PICNIC AND SPORTS

Children were taken to different places like Murdeshwar, Gokarna, Karwar, Gersoppa Shimogga and few to Udupi, Mangalore, Gadag etc. on different occasions to spend their day leisurely. Sports day too was conducted to encourage children to take active part in sports and games.

Apart from the above activities individual health checkup, treatment, counselling for children, individual coaching etc. too was carried out by the experts.

EYE CHECKUP AND SURGERY

Phaco machine and other equipment were installed in the hospital to conduct eye check up and surgery for the needy ruralites. Camps have been conducted in the villages with the help of self help groups. 1400 women were treated free of cost and 450 optical’s were given for the women having eye sight problem. 160 surgeries conducted during this year.

YUVA RAITHA PROGRAM

To aid the farmers by providing them training in cropping pattern, increasing yield using organic manure, educating them in the use of modern agricultural implements. 10 self help groups of men and women were formed.

COMMUNITY BASED LEARNING CENTERS

To Promote education for the school dropouts girls, Community Based Learning Centers have been formed in Mundargi and Shirahatti taluka of Gadag district. 180 students benefitted from this program.
